Should you Workout with sore muscles? Not a good idea!

Working out is the act of physical fitness and exercise that tests your ability, capacity, sustainability, stamina, and endurance. Working out sore muscles can harm you to what extent scroll below to read in detail.

People workout to lose weight or to gain muscle strength and fitness.

The act of losing weight means losing more calories than your daily consumption. Meaning if you need 1500 calories in order to maintain your normal weight then you need to consume less than this. That is probably taking 1300 calories in the diet and burning 300 calories during the workout.

Obviously one should start with 2 days a week and then take it to 4 or 5 depending on their capacity and commitment.

The workout is a series of combination of-

  • Cardio
  • Strength training
  • Core work
  • Stretching

Benefits of working out-

  2. Reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases
  3. Increases ability to think and promotes better judgment skills
  4. Helps you quit smoking
  5. Promotes better sleep
  6. Improves sexual health
  7. Helps you live longer.
  8. Increases energy levels.
  9. Leads to muscle strength and growth.
  10. Helps to control weight

Soreness refers to pain due to injury, infection, or excessive exercise

Now it depends when did that soreness occur. Soreness is common in beginners as they are using new muscles to workout. If you workout regularly then soreness and discomfort are nothing new to you.

When soreness occurs you shouldn’t miss gym as you need to make those muscles used to working out.  The pain and discomfort can demotivate you from working out however don’t let it get to you.

Soreness is basically the cause of muscle tears that results in slight pain and discomfort. However, it might be they are important as they help your muscles grow stronger.

You shouldn’t skip the gym but you shouldn’t work the same muscles as they need time to heal.

Taking rest of 1-2 days would be enough. Meanwhile, you can work other muscles. Such as after a leg day you should take a rest and do your upper body workout. This is important to recover and build.

Risks or working out with sore muscles

  • Insomnia
  • Constant fatigue
  • Depression and mood changes
  • Increase heart rate.
  • Decrease appetite
  • Muscle and joint pain

Tips to prevent soreness next time

  1. Remember to do yoga
  2. Stretching before and after a workout
  3. Correct posture
  4. Use of hot water bath after working out
  5. Most importantly don’t push yourself when you have sore muscles
